The 2024 Olympics have come to an end but the pride for your country doesn’t go away! There were many accomplishments made this year that will live on forever and in this year’s games among the 6 continents and184 countries who qualified, 12 countries were from the continent of Africa.

As shared on africanews.com, Kenya lead in winning 11 medals adding to the continents total of 38 medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Kenyan athletes excelled in both marathon events, thanks to Hellen Obiri (photographed above) and Benson Kipruto, who both won bronze medals. Egypt brought a diverse range of talents competing in; modern pentathlon with Ahmed Elgendy who secured the Gold medal, weightlifting with Sara Ahmed (photographed below) earning a silver medal and Fencing with Mohamed Elsayed who brought home a bonze medal.

2. Algeria

Algeria, located in North Africa, debuted in the 1964 Olympics but boycotted in 1976 games. This year Algeria won a total of 3 medals; 2 Gold and 1 Bronze, landing them the 39th spot for the countries with the most medals at the 2024 Olympics.

3. South Africa

South Africa, located in Southern Africa, debuted in the 1904 Olympics and was first African nation to compete at the Olympic Games. This year South Africa won a total of 6 medals; 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze, landing them the 44th spot for the countries with the most medals at the 2024 Olympics.

4. Ethiopia

Ethiopia, located in East Africa, debuted in the 1956 Olympic Games. This year Ethiopia won a total of 4 medals; 1 Gold and 3 Silver, landing them the 47th spot for the countries with the most medals at the 2024 Olympics.
